Going to the dogs
How to survive and thrive in 2009
We begin 2009 with a mixture of hope and uncertainty as well as a preoccupation
with money. How we spend reveals our personal values and our national
psyche—and since last fall we’re looking at life a little
differently. It’s not a bad thing paring down, getting back to
essentials and remembering we can do more with less.
With canine contemplations hitting presidential levels, we thought it
might be fun to present you with some doggone good advice to live by
in tough times. Man’s best friend really knows what’s important,
and dogs always have our best interests at heart (no credit? no problem).
So here are some basic tenets to guide you through the coming months,
illustrated by seven very talented photographers we found on the Flickr
website. This is one of the real miracles of the electronic era, finding
rich repositories of material to mine on the Internet with the click
of a mouse and a few quick emails. Get online and discover those buried
bones you’ve been looking for.
Fantastic photos paired with witty words are our gift to you in 2009,
along with our best wishes for a recovery of humankind’s deepest
collective sense of self.
Peace be with you.
Carol
